One of the most frequent requests we receive is for televisions. We’ve found families across Tanzania are eager to own their own TV. Omari is no different.

Omari, who makes a living out of farming, livestock, and practicing traditional medicine, has a large family compound where he lives with his 25 children and grandchildren in a remote village in the Tanga region. He and his extended family use their EGG solar home system to watch the world news every night. “Having a TV is so important because it helps connect us to the rest of the world,” he told us.

Omari is one of a growing number of customers who has come to EGG thanks to our partnership with Tanga Fresh, the dairy cooperative. In addition to powering a TV, he is able to illuminate much of his compound at night, allowing the older children to study at least two hours after dark. Omari is so pleased with his system that he hopes to buy more EGG systems in the near future to eliminate all kerosene lamps on his property.
